CMD 175 Cable Reel
A 10 metre link cable connects the main control unit to a slip ring measurement drum containing 175 metres of Kevlar reinforced polyurethane coated cable. The Kevlar strength member is securely retained within the in-house designed, heavy duty cable connector, thus providing a degree of insurance against events that sometimes occur underground. Crusade Designs does not recommend the use of the cable as a retrieval mechanism, as whilst the kevlar element is unlikely to fail, no such assurance can be given for the copper wires in the cable under very severe loads. Shackle points for the attachment of safety ropes are provided for ease of manipulation when using ropes for positioning the tractor in the manhole.
